Welcome to Counselling with Sara

Hello, I'm Sara.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Blooming Therapy.
If you're here, life may feel overwhelming right now. You might be looking for answers, trying to make sense of your experiences, or simply hoping to find someone who will truly listen.
Before I tell you about counselling, I'd like to tell you a little about me.
Counselling isn't just my profession it's my purpose and my passion.
For over 15 years, I've had the privilege of supporting people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Time and time again, I've seen the incredible strength people carry, even when they can't yet see it for themselves.
I believe that when people feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted without judgement, meaningful change becomes possible. That belief sits at the heart of every session I offer.
My role isn't to tell you what to do or have all the answers. It's to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity and honesty as you begin to make sense of your own story.
If you're looking for a therapist who offers a warm, down-to-earth and supportive space where you can simply be yourself, I'd be honoured to walk that journey with you.
My Approach to Counselling
No two people have lived the same life, so I don't believe therapy should ever be a one-size-fits-all experience.
Every client I work with is unique, bringing their own story, experiences, strengths and challenges. That's why I tailor our work together to you, rather than expecting you to fit a particular model of therapy.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of psychological theories and evidence-based approaches to meet your individual needs. Together, we'll explore what has shaped your experiences, how those experiences may be influencing your life today and what meaningful change looks like for you.
Alongside my professional training and clinical experience, my work is also informed by lived experiences. I understand that life can bring unexpected challenges, loss, change and uncertainty.
While your journey will never be compared to anyone else's, I believe that combining professional knowledge with genuine human understanding allows me to offer a warm, compassionate and authentic therapeutic relationship.
I don't believe therapy is about fixing people. I believe it's about creating a space where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts, understand your emotions and reconnect with your own strengths.
Whether our work together focuses on understanding relationship patterns, processing trauma, navigating grief, building confidence or simply making sense of where you are today, we'll work collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.

Working With Me
Therapy isn’t about sitting in silence while someone nods at you. Equally, it isn’t about someone telling you how to live your life.
I believe the most meaningful therapy sits somewhere in between.
Our work together will be collaborative, thoughtful and shaped around you. I’ll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and offer psychological insight where it may help you understand your experiences more clearly.
When appropriate, I may gently draw attention to patterns, contradictions or ways of thinking that could be keeping you stuck. This will always be done with compassion, honesty and respect.
Some sessions may feel emotional. Others may bring relief, clarity, new perspectives or even moments of laughter. There is no fixed formula, and every session will be guided by what feels most important for you on that particular day.
You remain at the centre of the work. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable, regularly reflect on what is helping and adapt our approach as your needs change.
You don’t need to arrive with the right words or a clear plan. We can begin with whatever feels most important that day.

Often, the ways we cope today were once the very things that helped us survive difficult experiences. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I'm more interested in understanding, "What has happened to you, and how has that shaped the way you experience yourself, your relationships and the world around you?"
My hope is that therapy offers more than a place to talk. I hope it becomes a place where you begin to understand yourself with greater compassion, reconnect with your strengths and move forward with confidence.
Relationships Shape Us and We Can Reshape Them
The relationships we experience throughout life can influence what we come to expect from others, what we tolerate, how safe we feel being vulnerable and whether we believe our own needs matter.
Sometimes we repeat familiar patterns without realising it. We may overgive to feel secure, avoid conflict to prevent rejection, take responsibility for other people’s emotions or confuse intensity with closeness.
These patterns are not personal failings. They are often ways of relating that once helped us feel safe, connected or accepted.
But familiar does not always mean healthy.
Therapy can help you notice the patterns you have learned, understand where they came from and decide which ones you want to carry forward.
A moment to reflect
Do you feel responsible for keeping the peace?
Do you find it easier to care for others than to ask for care yourself?
Do you minimise your needs to avoid being seen as difficult?
Do you mistake unpredictability for passion or emotional intensity for closeness?
Do you feel guilty when you set a boundary?
Are you drawn to what feels familiar, even when it leaves you feeling unseen?
You do not have to blame yourself for the patterns you learned.
But once you begin to see them, you can start choosing something different.
The goal is not to become better at enduring difficult relationships. It is to become more able to recognise, choose and create relationships in which you can be fully yourself.
